Free for All Friday No. 397 by Nan

Welcome to our weekly roundtable!

Do you have a section in your organizer that's completely freeform? Blank paper for doodling? Lined paper for idea capture?

How have you used this section in your life?

Of course, since it's Friday, all ring-bound organizer-related conversation is welcome!

  1. Yes, I have a 'random notes/mind sweep' section with a selection of lined, grid and blank paper. Whenever something pops in my head, for which I don't have time or the right planner wit me to process it correctly immediately it goes there, also thoughts that haunt me I write down so that they stop haunting me, project ideas, creative calculations if there are still quite some days left until payday, but little money...

  2. Yes, I use it in meetings at the childrens' schools, or at lectures, or just to journal personal thoughts or notes. I later file it in the A to Z section by subject if it doesn't have another "home."

  4. I have some sheets behind a divider for that purpose. I am considering a cover without rings instead of my Franklin pocket binder because it is more sleek and compact. I have noted some options and the pockets. I may try to design and construct a cover but I have not sewn a certain product of high quality in a long time. I still prefer my Franklin binder.

I am relying on a new way for me of distinguishing information on my weekly format. Because there is a large space on the day I want to quickly know the type of notation. It is curious that many people use boxes for everything. Even with color coding and symbols I see too many boxes. My metal clips that are flush with the sheet have been useful recently to mark pages. They are small and do not conceal inscription unlike other metal clips and magnetic ones.
